Nuprint is incredibly proud to be involved with the production of Qubizm’s innovative maths resource, Izak9, which is now used in more than 500 schools across Ireland, throughout the UK and abroad. Certified by the Education Board and supported by presenter, Johnny Ball, Izak9 is a large cube made up of 27 cubes with six faces which helps primary and post-primary pupils learn maths in a fun way.
The black plastic-moulded cubes are made in Belfast, and the rest of the production work all happens at Nuprint, including everything from product development to label printing and delivery of the products.
A challenging project, work on the Izak9 began with identifying how exactly to print out the labels, which took a lot of time and development. Indeed, 162 side variations had to be created, and it was essential the right labels were attached to the right faces to ensure the mathematical problems would work. Our team ultimately sourced the correct material for these, along with a permanent adhesive, ensuring the labels would adhere securely to the cubes without peeling. After extensive trials, we also designed a digital solution which ensured the correct application sequence and combination for the cubes. Continued trialling and development resulted in even more superior quality labels made from a more durable polycarbonate material, which didn’t collect fingerprints. We also sourced and developed an anti-microbial film for the surface of the cubes, which prevents the spread of germs.
